This was the first Stolperstein laying ceremony I actively participated in. Of course, I had previously learned about the laying of the other stones in Sontra and that such events are also taking place in my home district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg. I find these events very important so that the memories are not lost, and so that the stones, as a kind of memorial, perhaps also serve to highlight the terrible impact the Nazi era had on humanity, including in our region.
I was particularly moved by the fact that families were brought together. That, on the occasion of the Stolperstein laying ceremony, family trees were traced and relatives previously unknown to us were located around the world to participate together.

Für mich war es die erste Stolpersteinverlegung, an der ich aktiv teilgenommen habe. Zuvor habe ich natürlich schon von den Verlegungen der anderen Steine in Sontra erfahren und mitbekommen, dass solche Aktionen auch in meinem Heimatlandkreis Hersfeld-Rotenburg durchgeführt werden. Ich finde solche Aktionen sehr wichtig, damit die Erinnerungen nicht verloren gehen bzw. die Steine als eine Art Mahnmal vielleicht auch dafür sorgen, welche schrecklichen Einschnitte die NS-Zeit für das Leben der Menschheit auch in unserer Heimat bedeutete.
Mich hat besonders bewegt, dass die Familien zusammengeführt wurden. Das man anlässlich der Stolpersteinverlegung die Stammbäume nachverfolgt hat und Verwandte, die man vorher nicht kannte, in der Welt ausfindig machte um gemeinsam daran teilzunehmen.
